about

I am Lydia, my husband is Tom, my eldest, Arthur, is 4, Eirlys is 3 and our newest arrival is Bertie, born on 17th December 2017.

I am a teacher and I also paint murals (Dreams in Colour Murals) and I am just getting back into writing. This blog is part of the trying to get back into writing bit. As well as my own blog, I contribute to other blogs and both online and published magazines.

I live and work in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. We’ve lived here for almost three years so far and lived in Dubai for two years before that. Expat life makes up a big part of this blog. I grew up in Jeddah, also in Saudi, and my parents have been expats for as long as I can remember. Hopefully I’ll show all the positive sides of living abroad as well as some of the difficulties it can bring.

Part of our decision to live abroad is to make travel more accessible and affordable for us as a family, so I am writing about our travels! This year we have set off on a road trip from Saudi, through the UAE, to Oman and back: we have spent a week racing around Manila exploring the Filipino capital: over the summer we enjoyed less sweltering temperatures visiting family in Wales and France: we had our last trip as a family of four relaxing in Goa, India. Planned for this year is Barcelona/Sitges in March (with our new addition) and we are currently in the middle of organising an campervan trip around some of Europe for this summer.
