I am Lydia, my husband is Tom, my eldest, Arthur, is 4, Eirlys is 2 and we have another due to arrive in January.
I am a teacher and I also paint murals (Dreams in Colour Murals) and I am just getting back into writing. This blog is part of the trying to get back into writing bit. As well as this blog, I am currently contributing to Debut Magazine online, a fantastic publication about women in media and creative careers, and Destination Sharqiya, a monthly magazine about the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.
I live and work in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. We’ve lived here for two years so far and lived in Dubai for two years before that. Expat life makes up a big part of this blog. I grew up in Jeddah, also in Saudi, and my parents have been expats for as long as I can remember. Hopefully I’ll show all the positive sides of living abroad as well as some of the difficulties it can bring.
Part of our decision to live abroad is to make travel more accessible and affordable for us as a family, so I am writing about our travels! This year we have set off on a road trip from Saudi, through the UAE, to Oman and back: we have spent a week racing around Manila exploring the Filipino capital: we are currently spending August in Wales and France seeing family and enjoying less sweltering temperatures. Planned for the future is Goa in October, then Barcelona in March (with our new addition) and we are currently in the middle of organising an Interail trip around some of Europe for next summer.
